Portland

Portland (Oregon)

Where To Stay

Canopy Hilton (Pearl District) ♡* : This hotel was very centrally located in Portland’s Pearl District. There were plenty of great restaurants, bars, breweries and things to do within walking distance of this hotel. The rooms were also nice & staff was great.

Where To Eat

10 Barrel Brewing Co : Great brewpub in the heart of the Pearl District. Beer was great, food was pretty good and had a great rooftop! Definitely recommend for a low key lunch or dinner.

Jacqueline: Excellent seafood restaurant in the Clinton neighborhood of Portland. Super cute/cozy atmosphere inside and great food.

Langbaan ♡♡ : This was definitely my favorite and most memorable meal in Portland. Langbaan is a Thai inspired tasting menu restaurant and the food was phenomenal. You can also add on the wine pairing which I definitely recommend, it was great/generous as well. I believe the tasting menu was about $90 and the wine pairing about $50. This restaurant only seats about 24 people and only has 2 seating’s per night, so make a reservation a few months out.

Mother's Bistro: Adorable breakfast spot with generous portions. Definitely a very family friendly spot with good breakfast.

Things To Do

Japanese Rose Garden: We walked from the Pearl District to the Japanese Rose Garden and was a really nice walk. The garden itself is really really beautiful and enjoyed walking around & taking pictures. They had some beautiful flowers, especially the roses of course. I would allow 1 hour to walk around.

Angel's Rest: This was a great hike about 30-45 minutes from Portland. I would say its “moderate”, not super difficult but definitely not “easy” as there is quite a bit of elevation. The view from the top is incredible. Round trip is about 4.5-5 miles and took us about 1 hour to get to the top, and about 45 minutes to get back down.

Hood River : After we hiked Angel’s Rest, we drove over to Hood River (40 minutes away) for dinner and beers at Pfriem Brewery. This brewery was awesome and the food was great. We had to wait about 45 minutes to get seated but enjoyed beers out on their patio while waiting. The views of the mountains/river from Pfriem’s patio are really beautiful. Pfriem is about 1 hour from downtown Portland.

Willamette Valley (Vineyards)

  • Tesla Wine Tours : We hired Tesla Wine tours to take us to Willamette Valley. We actually opted for a Mercedes as it was cheaper than a Tesla. We were able to customize which vineyards/wineries we went to and they were fairly flexible with pick up/drop off. Tesla Wine Tours has a relationship with Blakeslee Vineyard so we got free lunch there. I believe we had to stop there as part of our package with the free lunch.

  • Argyle Winery : Fun winery that specializes in sparkling wines. We started our day here which I recommend as bubbles were a fun way to start the day. Tasting room was super cute too. Argyle is fairly popular and have found their wines at a lot of wine shops in Chicago.

  • Furioso: This was definitely the coolest and most unique vineyard we went to. Their wines are really good and their tasting room is very cool & modern. The views from Furioso are incredible as well! A bit of a higher price point on their bottles ($40-100 range) but the quality was definitely there for the price tag.

  • Ponzi Vineyards ♡♡ : Definitely a big fan of Ponzi and LOVED their rose. Their wines are super reasonably priced (about $20-30/bottle). They have a really nice grassy area and indoor & outdoor tasting rooms. Ponzi is a vineyard you could definitely spend a few hours at as its a bit more laid back and I believe they had bocci ball and other games on their grassy area!

  • Blakeslee Vineyard : This was a really cute, family owned vineyard with really nice views of Mt. Hood. We got free lunch here as part of our wine tour. Wines were decent and reasonably priced. We got to meet one of the owners which was really nice!

Bars:

  • The Departure : Cool rooftop bar with great views of downtown. This definitely seemed to be the happening spot and didn’t stay for long as it was crowded. I would love to go back and get drinks when it’s less crowded!

  • The Vault : Great cocktail bar in the Pearl District.

  • Jack Knife : This was a fun bar that we ended up at two nights in a row while in Portland. Definitely a place to go after a few drinks and dance as they have a good DJ. Not the typical type of bar I end up at usually but we had a ton of fun here.
